You can add things to the bar for exfoliation...like poppy seeds or cornmeal. Right before adding your essential oils, add in about 1 to 2 tablespoons of an exfoliating ingredient to your batch, blend for a few seconds, then add the essential oils and blend again to mix, then pour into your mold. You'll have to see the end result to determine if the level of exfoliation in the soap is what you're looking for, and adjust accordingly for your next batch.

I purchase lye from this source: http://www.thelyeguy.com/store.php?crn=211

Could you add some kind of exfoliating agent to create an exfoliating bar? My husband loved some specialty soaps I had purchased from a shop in Colorado Springs, olive oil based, and using things cocoa and carrot and pomegranate; they were also exfoliating. I've been searching for a comparable bar (exfoliating, super moisturizing, smells wonderful) that won't break the bank. So far, I have not had any luck. Also, where would you recommend purchasing lye? This would be my first soap-making experience (in case that wasn't obvious). Lastly, how difficult is the blender cleanup? Would I need to have a dedicated soap blender?? Thank you for sharing your expertise :)

Depending upon what size batch you usually make, just multiply the amount of oils according to your normal batch size, and double check your lye/water quantities in a soap calculator (if you double the batch, use two tea bags). Here's my favorite soap calculator: http://www.soapcalc.net/calc/SoapCalcWP.asp
